How I run my business with Bots

How I write books with a Grok Bot

By Shane M · · 1 min read

In short

The process behind my Grok Bot books: I set the plan and the voice, the Bot drafts and edits in passes, and I approve every chapter before it ships.

I've written a series of plain-English Grok Bot books with help from a Book Writer Bot. Here's the process, including the parts I never hand over.

I own the plan and the voice

Before any drafting, I decide who the book is for, what they should be able to do by the end, and how it should sound. I write that into the Bot's instructions: short sentences, no jargon, every technical word explained.

The Bot drafts in passes

  1. Outline. Chapter list with one line on each.
  2. Draft. One chapter at a time, never the whole book at once.
  3. Edit passes. Separate passes for clarity, for accuracy, and for consistent terms.
  4. Fact pass. Anything about features or prices gets checked against official pages.

What I always do myself

  • Read every chapter.
  • Cut anything I can't stand behind.
  • Approve the cover and every image.
  • Handle the publishing accounts and prices.
