CHAPTER 12 GUIDE

Your First Week, Starting Tonight

In short

We've covered a lot. Seven bots, routines, deals, press, a website.

Tonight: pick one job

Get out the list you made in Chapter 1, the jobs around each video. Circle the one you dread most.

Tonight: write the voice guide

Before you make the bot, spend twenty minutes on a voice guide. Five titles you liked.

Tomorrow: make the bot

Create the bot. Give it a plain name.

The next two days: test on old videos

Give the bot two or three videos you've already published. Compare its work to yours.

This week's upload: use it for real

When your next video is ready, use the bot for real. Give it the transcript.

Week two: save it and add the next

If the first bot worked, save its job as a skill so it does it the same way each time. Then pick the next job on your list and repeat the process.

Week four or so: the first routine

Once two or three bots are working well by hand, turn one job into a routine. The business inbox sweep is a good first one, because it doesn't depend on your upload schedule.

A month in: the rhythm

By the end of the first month, you might have three or four bots and one or two routines. That's plenty.

What to watch for

A few signs that something needs adjusting:

  • You're approving drafts without reading them. Slow down, or cut the number of drafts.
  • Reports pile up unread. Make them shorter or less often.
  • Your posts or titles stop sounding like you. Update the voice guide.
  • You're spending more time managing bots than you saved. Go back to fewer bots.

Where this fits in the series

This book is one of a few in a series. My first book, The Ultimate Starters Guide to Grok Bot for Beginners, covers the basics: setting up, staying safe, connecting apps, routines and teams.

One last thing

The reason to do any of this isn't the bots. It's the work.

Your first-week checklist

Copy this into a note and tick it off:

  • Write your job list.
  • Circle the job you dread most.
  • Write a voice guide: five titles, two descriptions, a few lines about how you talk, a list of things to avoid.
  • Make one bot with a plain name and a clear "never" line.

A prompt for your first bot

It's a good way to start, because the bot asks you the questions you'd forget to answer.

A worked example: the first month, week by week

Here's how Patch and Mend's first month with bots went, as an example of a realistic pace.

Questions people ask

What if I don't have time for the first week? Do one step a night.

Before and after, in one line

Before: one person doing ten jobs, and some of them never getting done. After: one person doing three jobs well, and checking the rest.
