CHAPTER 6 GUIDE

Posting on X Without Living on X

In short

I know a lot of creators who have a complicated relationship with X. They know it helps.

What X is good for, for a channel

For most YouTube channels, X does a few useful things:

  • Lets your existing audience know a new video is out.
  • Puts your work in front of people who follow your topic but haven't found you yet.
  • Gives you a way to talk with other creators, experts and viewers.
  • Gives you a place to share small things between videos, like a photo or a quick tip.

Your social bot

Note the long "never" list. Posting is obvious.

Connecting X

Grok Bot can connect to X. Grok Bot has an X connector.

A launch week, drafted

Here's what the social bot might hand you for a Patch and Mend video:

  • Launch post: "New video. A side table with water rings that everyone told the owner to throw out. Took an afternoon and some mayonnaise, and yes, really. Link below."
  • A thread: four short posts, each with one tip from the video and a still frame.
  • Midweek post: a before-and-after photo with one line.
  • End of week: a question for followers. "What's the worst thing you've ever found inside a drawer?"

Replies and conversations

This is where I'd keep a person in charge, and that person is you.

Finding your people

Your research bot from Chapter 5 can help here too. Ask it to find accounts that talk about your topic, other creators in your area and conversations where your video would genuinely help.

What not to automate

A short list of things I'd never hand a bot on X, even with approvals:

  • Following or unfollowing lots of accounts to gain followers.
  • Replying with the same message to many people.
  • Sending DMs to people who didn't contact you.
  • Posting about news or tragedies.

Spaces, lists and the rest

X has more features than just posts, like Spaces for live audio and lists for following groups of accounts. Ask your bot which ones it can use.

How much time this saves

For most creators, the time on X splits into two parts. Writing posts, and everything that happens once you're in the app.

Walkthrough: launch day on X

  • On upload day, the social bot's drafts arrive with the other packaging.
  • The owner reads the launch post and checks every claim against the video.
  • They change anything that doesn't sound right, and approve.
  • If the bot isn't connected for posting, they copy the approved post into X and add the link. If it is, they approve the posting card when it appears.

What went wrong: the tone

One of the bot's early drafts replied to a viewer's mild criticism with "Thanks for the feedback! We're always looking to improve!" It sounded like a company, not a person, and the channel doesn't call itself "we".

Questions people ask

Should I let the bot post at all? Only if copying and pasting is the thing stopping you from posting.
